OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Firefighters rescued two dogs from a smoky house in Overland Park Friday afternoon.
Shortly before 1:00 p.m., crews from Overland Park and Olathe Fire Departments responded to a house fire call in the 9400 block of West 162nd Street.
One of the residents was on the scene and reported everyone was out of the house, but two dogs were inside. Firefighters quickly located the dogs inside the two-story house and brought them out to safety. Crews then located the blaze in the kitchen area of the home with heavy heat and smoke throughout the house.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at over $200,000.
