Unwanted prescription drugs collected during metro’s Drug Take Back Day

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. -- Every year, millions of prescription medications go unused or expire. And metro police hope to cut down on prescription drug abuse.

On Saturday FOX 4's Nicole DiAntonio joined officers as they picked up potentially dangerous expired drugs.

In the last four years, leaders have collected more than 2,000 tons of unwanted drugs nationwide.

If you missed Saturday’s drop-off, police said they hope to have another one this spring.
