SHAWNEE, Kan. -- After a seven-hour standoff, Shawnee, Kansas, police busted through doors and took a man into custody.

Police said the man is suspected of attacking a woman with a knife. The incident happened near 67th and Quivira when the woman called police and said she was being attacked by a man with a knife. By the time police arrived the woman had escaped with minor injuries and the man had barricaded himself inside the home.

Police tried talking him out, but by nightfall, seven hours later, SWAT teams busted in the house and took him into custody.

Police said it's not the first time they've been called to the house and that the suspect has a history of mental health issues. His name has not been released. Charges may be filed Monday morning.
