KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Police are investigating after a woman was shot and killed near The Point Bar & Grill along West 44th and Belleview Street. Investigators said the woman, in her mid-20s, was found dead in a nearby parking lot. They said a man, also in his mid-20’s, was shot in the shoulder and is in serious but stable condition.

“I was coming back into the living room and I heard a bunch of gun shots, too many to count,” said Connor Burke, who lives near the bar. “There’s bullet casings everywhere.”

Jennifer Tucker, the owner of the bar, said she heard the shots ring out shortly after closing time. She said the man who was shot in the shoulder ran to her bar for help.

“He was suffering from a gunshot wound and so we opened the door for him and he fell inside my door,” Tucker said. “It is unfortunate that had to transpire after such a great night.”

At least one witness told FOX 4 a fight broke out inside the bar, and believes the shooting is tied to it. However, Tucker said there weren’t any fights last night inside the bar. A police report is not yet available. Police have not yet identified the woman who was killed.
