Woman gunned down in KCK home, killed

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- One woman is dead after an early morning shooting on Wednesday. Police said the shooting took place in a house in the 1900 block of N. 15th Street in Kansas City, Kan.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was inside the house with others when shots rang out around 2:15 a.m. The suspected gunman left before police arrived.

Family and friends of the victim told FOX 4's Matt Stewart at the scene that the woman was shot and killed by her boyfriend. They said the suspect was the father of the victim's son and that they had a troubled relationship.

The victim reportedly lived in the home with her aunt, grandmother and two-year-old son. Also in the home was the victim's brother who was upstairs sleeping at the time of the shooting.

Police have not released the names of the victim or the suspect, but said they are looking for him at this time.
