KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police investigated the discovery of a woman’s body inside a well near the Missouri River at Richard Berkley Riverfront Park on Thursday.

Police identified the body as 27-year-old Janina Vasquez.

The discovery was made at about 1 p.m., and the woman’s body was found in a 25-feet deep well owned by the city. The park is located at 101 North Lydia, near Front Street and River Front Road.

Police say it is not possible that the woman flowed in from the river due to the kind of well the body was found in, but had to have been placed inside of it, so they are investigating it as a suspicious death.

Investigators do not know exactly how long the body has been there, but say it had been there for a little while.
