SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A veteran animal keeper is dead after an elephant charged him according to directors at Dickerson Park Zoo. KY3 reports that on Friday morning John Bradford, 62, was killed after Patience, a 41-year-old female elephant, got aggressive with Bradford.
Bradford worked at the zoo for 25 years according to the TV station. The Springfield Police Department is investigating the incident and no word has been given on the status of Patience.
This is the second tragic incident involving one of the zoo’s elephants in the month of October. On October 5, an elephant named Connie was euthanized after dropping nearly 1,000 pounds due to an advanced kidney disease.
