KANSAS CITY, Mo. — We’re just days away from Super Bowl 50. Nick Smith from Firebirds Wood Fired Grill shared one of his favorite sports bar appetizers that is perfect to make to take to your watch party.

Seared Ahi Tuna

Serves 2

1 – 8 oz. Ahi Tuna steak

2 Tbsp – Herb rub (rosemary, thyme, sage)

Butter – as needed

Hot mustard

2 cup – Mixed greens

2 oz. – Cilantro lime vinaigrette dressing (we make ours fresh in house but you can use your favorite store bought version)

¼ cup – Jicama, julienned

¼ cup – Tomatoes, diced

¼ cup – Spiced pecans

In a mixing bowl, combine the mixed greens, jicama, tomatoes and spiced pecans. Stir together until well coated. Season the tuna steak by rolling in the herb rub. Place a skillet over medium-high heat and coat with the butter until melted. Lay the tuna in the hot butter and sear for 30 seconds on all sides to form a slight crust. Remove from pan and cut into slices and fan out on a plate. Add the salad and a squirt of spicy mustard for dipping.
