KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Tuesday afternoon some local kids got to hang out with a Kansas City Chiefs player. Chiefs Center Rodney Hudson visited the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kansas City on East 43rd Street to talk about the importance on living a healthy lifestyle.

Joined by Chiefs Cheerleaders and KC Wolf Hudson spoke to 100 kids, kindergarten through fifth grade. He took questions and talked with students about living a healthy lifestyle. Hudson told students that he’s always been active and has been playing football since he was their age.

“I remember when I was that young having fun and coming to things like this actually and like you said I started when I was seven years old and here I am today,” he said.

The Boys and Girls Club says it was an opportunity its children rarely get. It says its five area clubs are a safe haven for kids. It says without it most children would go to school and go home without any extracurricular opportunities.

“They don’t really get a whole lot of these opportunities you know basically they go to school and they go home if they don’t go to the club so through the Boys and Girls Club we’re able to give them the opportunities to learn and grow,” said Brittany Allyse with the Boys and Girls Club.

This is the third year the Chiefs and Truman Medical Center have partnered touring schools and other community centers talking with youth about living a healthy lifestyle.
