LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas fans woke up Thursday to the news that Joel Embiid was headed for the NBA Draft. A report by Yahoo Sports citing anonymous sources said the freshman center was in the process of selecting an agent, and a formal announcement will be made soon.

By mid-morning, Embiid and his advisor Luc Richard Mbah a Moute shot down the Yahoo! report on Twitter. They both tweeted that Embiid hasn’t made a decision yet. Then around noon, the Lawrence Journal-World reached Bill Self by phone at his office.

“I have Jo in my office right now,” Self told the Journal World. “He didn’t know where that came from. No decision has been made on what he’s going to do next year at all. I think he’s still a little ways away from that. That information that was reported did not come from Jo.”
