Top high school basketball teams, talent to square off in Best of Midwest Showcase

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Some of the area’s top prospects and best high school basketball teams are coming to Kansas City’s Municipal Auditorium for a one-day showcase at the end of January.

The Best of the Midwest Showcase will feature some of the top teams from the metro, as well as St. Louis and Iowa on January 31. Individual talents like Mizzou commit Kevin Puryear from Blue Springs and Arkansas commit Jimmy Whitt from Columbia Hickman High will be on the court.

The showcase will also feature matchups that include defending Kansas big-class champ Blue Valley Northwest playing against defending big-class Missouri champion Christian Brothers College, and the metro’s top-rated team Blue Springs South squaring off against highly ranked Webster Groves.

Full schedule:

10 a.m. – Olathe North vs Lee’s Summit North
11:30 a.m. – Smithville vs St. James Academy (girls)
1 p.m. – Liberty vs Gardner-Edgerton
2:30 p.m. – Blue Valley Northwest vs Christian Brothers College
4 pm – Lansing vs Free State
5:30 pm – Hickman vs Sioux City North
7 pm – Lee’s Summit vs No. 6 Kickapoo
8:30 pm – No. 3 Blue Springs South vs No. 2 Webster Groves
