KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Major League Baseball handed down a one game suspension to Royals designated hitter, Kendrys Morales, on Thursday for his return to the field after he was ejected in the ninth inning of Tuesday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays. He also received a fine for his actions, but the amount of the fine was undisclosed, MLB.com reported.
According to MLB, Morales, who is hitting .242 with 17 home runs and 50 RBIs in 100 games, elected to appeal the suspension and will be in the Royals’ starting lineup for Thursday.
The Royals defeated the Rays Tuesday night 3-2, but went on to lose 0-12 Wednesday night. The Royals play the final game of the series in Tampa Bay at 11:10 a.m., Thursday.
