KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The city is focused on the Kansas City Chiefs playing in Super Bowl LVII and hoping for a Super Bowl Parade next week.
“We’ve got a more important thing to do between now and then,” Chiefs fan Steve Kegerreis said in an interview with FOX4 Friday.
“The Chiefs game has got to be down there with the Eagles. I think it’s going to be a tough battle. I think it’s going to be an exciting game. I wish I could be there, but I’ve got my couch, and I’ve got my remote control, and I’ve got my big screen TV,” Steve Kegerreis said.
But the NFL football fun doesn’t stop there.
Less than three months after the Super Bowl, Kansas City is on the clock with the NFL Draft.
After months of planning, fans are finally getting a peek of the massive event the Kansas City Sports Commission has planned.
Union Station
The draft itself will take place at Union Station, with the NFL Draft Experience set up between Union Station and the WWI Museum and Memorial.
People were already going to come to Union Station two days before the Super Bowl, but the renderings of what the draft will look like outside the building made fans even more excited.
Michael Hatfield brought his kids to Union Station to take pictures Friday. He said the draft will be very cool, especially with fans coming in through KCI’s new terminal.
“I know when they broke ground on that, it was all with the intention of having it done for the NFL Draft,” Hatfield said Friday. “So I mean, we’re doing a lot just to prepare for all the people that are going to be coming in here.”
Union Station leaders said they’ll be closed the week before the draft to get ready for it. Union Station’s President & CEO George Guastello said the south side of the building will be on television.
“It’s not going to be hidden,” Guastello said in an interview with FOX4 Friday. “So what you see is what the world is going to get.
“So everyone from all over Kansas City can say, ‘That’s my home. That’s what we save,’ and when you come to Kansas City, you need to come here and experience Science City and see our great exhibitions.”
NFL Draft Experience
The Draft Experience is described as the event’s interactive football theme park.
Fans can check out interactive exhibits, test their athletic abilities, and snap pictures with the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Anyone looking for autograph sessions will also find them at the Draft Experience.
The Draft Experience is free and open all three days of the event.
How to Attend
The NFL Draft will be held April 27-29 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Fans interested in attending the NFL Draft are encouraged to download the NFL’s OnePass app, but may want to wait until after Sunday’s Super Bowl to do so.
The app is currently geared toward fans attending the game in the Phoenix area.
It will be updated with information about the NFL Draft in the coming weeks.
