KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Work has begun at the Kansas Speedway to repave and reconfigure the track and add a new infield road course.

Officials with the speedway say that the repaving is necessary given the area’s harsh weather conditions – which can range from over 100 degrees in Summer to well-below zero in Winter.

In addition, the track will feature variable banking, increasing it up to 20 degrees in the turns, with lesser amounts around the front- and backstretches.
