Royals remain in contention

MINNEAPOLIS — After they split a four game weekend series in Minnesota, the Royals return home Tuesday and open a six-game home stand.

The pitching staff continues to stay strong for the Royals. They lead the American League with 3.57 team ERA.

Trending up is the Royals’ offense, with a team batting average of .259, which is sixth best in the American League. The Royals (38-41) remain in third place of the AL Central, four and a half games out of first place.

The Royals will begin the home stand against the Cleveland Indians (44-38), who are currently alone in first place of the AL Central, after Detroit lost to Toronto Monday afternoon. .

First pitch will be 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday at Kauffman Stadium.
