For those that don’t know, a waterspout is just a tornado over water. Typically they are weaker than the land cousins and many occur in the Gulf Of Mexico. So take a look at what we have here. Not 1…2…or 3 waterspouts…but 4 waterspouts in one picture. This was sent into Meteorologist Jim Loznicka’s FB page from viewers in southern MS and AL.

Pretty darn cool! There are others on his FB page

OK, no real weather to deal with here for the next couple of days. More sunshine and highs in the 70s should do it through Friday, with decent potential for nudging 80 Friday PM.

There is a cold front shaping up for later Friday into Saturday that will impact our highs over the weekend, especially Saturday with the potential for highs to be only in the 60s on Saturday depending on the amount of mid-level cloud cover. I also think, this being May, that with dewpoints in the 50s and highs near 80 on Friday that it won’t take much to create some showers-t-storms in the vicinity. There wouldn’t be much but at least I think the chance is there Friday evening. CAPES are forecasted to be near 2000 in the evening on Friday, however the NAM thinks dewpoints will be near 60 which I’m struggling with a bit as that may be too high. There is some moisture in Southern Texas but I’m not convinced that there is enough time or a strong enough south flow to get it all the way here. Regardless if dewpoints are closer to 55° that may be enough to spark off a few storms, maybe not a solid line.

The weekend looks cooler, especially Saturday as we may be fighting some mid level moisture, and with cooler NE winds blowing highs may struggle.

Tomorrow, if I have time we’re going to talk about the warmest start to any year so far in 2012 through April…and how KC is doing along that same vein.
